- Project Description:
MOCpages was once the largest and most vibrant online LEGO® community for much of the past decade. The site provided a space for LEGO enthusiasts to share their creations, interact with other builders, and grow as part of the community. Unfortunately, over time, the platform became inactive, eventually fading away after years of decline.
The Rise of MOCpages:
Launched in 2003, MOCpages became a popular destination for LEGO fans to showcase their creations. It was free to use, open to everyone, and had no storage limitations. Users could upload their creations, rate others' work, and leave comments. The platform grew rapidly, becoming a central hub for LEGO enthusiasts.
Growth and Popularity:
As MOCpages continued to grow, it introduced new features such as groups and conversations. The site also improved its image uploader, which helped foster a more interactive community. Over time, it became the starting point for many now-famous LEGO builders, including Firas Abu-Jaber, Nick Barrett, and Ralph Savelsberg, among others.
The Decline:
Despite its early success, MOCpages began to face challenges, such as server instability and a decline in user activity. While efforts were made to restore the site and keep it functional, it ultimately lost much of its user base. The platform's shutdown marked the end of an era for the LEGO online community.
