LEGO Disney 43252 Moana’s Flowerpot – Botanical Collection meets vignette [Review]
In LEGO’s latest wave of Disney sets, there hasn’t been a ton of wow-power, but there have been a few that struck our eye. One of those sets is LEGO Disney 43252 Moana’s Flowerpot. Our initial impression was that it was a unique marriage with the Botanical line. Unboxing the parts, instructions, and sticker sheet
In this case, we have a pretty standard, smaller, thumb-punch box, featuring the closed flower pot on the front and opened flower pot on the back.
Inside the box are polybags numbered 1-6.
There is also a single instruction booklet and a small sheet of stickers. For the size of the set, it’s kind of a lot of stickers, however they aren’t cumbersome.
The build
The flower pot itself begins as two halves. The first half resembles Moana’s grandmothers hut at the beginning of the film where she is telling stories. There are three tapestries on the walls: one of Maui, one of Te Fiti, and one of the giant crab, Tamatoa.
We take a break between the two halves to build a small boat and the Moana figure. She comes complete with a printed 1×1 round tile representing the heart of Te Fiti. We also get a Pua figure, but unfortunately no Hei Hei rooster.
Moving along, we build the other half of the pot, which has a nighttime motif and features the moon and stars. Specifically, we see Maui’s hook.
The two halves are connected via Technic liftarm beams and pins.
From there we adorn the sides with a significant number of 1×1 bow pieces to give the whole thing a woven appearance.
The flowers on top employ a neat little technique with an ice cream element attached to a hotdog, which is clipped to a bar fed through one of the new Sonic ring elements.
The whole thing is capped off with some additional greenery and flowers.
The completed model
A chest filled with fruit is added as a final touch. And once finished, we have a sweet little display piece that looks good both open and closed.
Conclusions and recommendations
As it turns out, this is a sweet, fun little build. It certainly scratches that Botanical Collection itch, but the pot itself is just as lovely as the flowers. The size, shape, and design are all quite pleasing and enjoyable to build. It’s not a complicated set by any means, and while it looks nice, it may not be a must-have for adult fans. That said, I see more adult fans appreciating the display aspect of this model than kiddos. It might make a good desk ornament, with the perfect tasteful touch of Disney magic.
