Microscale Magic! Harry Potter LEGO building competition – winners announced [News]
We saw some fabulous entries to The Brothers Brick’s microscale LEGO Harry Potter building contest — click here to see photos of all the entries. However, despite the amazing quality on display, there can only be three winners — one in each of our two categories, and the MASTER WIZARD who will win a copy of the stunning 71043 Hogwarts Castle: the largest Harry Potter LEGO set ever released.
The winner in our BIG building category was Inthert with his intricate and incredibly-clever version of Sirius Black’s house — 12 Grimmauld Place.
The exterior was spot-on and the judges appreciated the interior details of the model. However, what set this model apart was the smart “transforming” element, mimicking the grand reveal of the Black residence in the movies. Check out the video to see this wonderful feature in action…
Inthert wins 75954 Hogwarts Great Hall + 41615 HP BrickHeadz (worth $115 and donated by TBB)
An honourable mention has to go to Simon NH‘s beautiful model of the Durmstrang ship arriving at Hogwarts. This little scene exhibits some excellent parts usage and the judging was a close-run thing.
The Durmstrang ship was a popular choice amongst the entries, but one version of it really stood out. Koen Zwanenburg‘s vessel was a beauty — packed with detail and texture despite its neat proportions, a worthy winner of the SMALL category…
Koen wins 75953 Hogwarts Whomping Willow + 41615 HP BrickHeadz (worth $85 and donated by TBB)
Honourable mentions go out to Aaron Newman and Gerald Cacas for their excellent entries in this category.
And then we come to the MASTER WIZARD — the builder who put together the most imaginative, magical, and spellbinding models across both categories…
Congratulations Jonas Kramm!
Jonas put together two amazing creations for the contest. His version of Dumbledore’s Office is a delight — deceptively small, it looks at first as if it’s minifigure scale, but look closely and you’ll see a wealth of clever and imaginative parts use on display…
And his entry in the SMALL category proved a big hit with the judges. This depiction of Hagrid’s Hut is incredibly detailed for the scale employed. Don’t miss those amazing trees!
Jonas is the deserved winner of the massive new 71043 Hogwarts Castle! (worth $400 and kindly donated by The LEGO Group)
Thank you to everyone who entered, the standard of building was impressive and we loved seeing what everyone put together.
